Every first Browser News of the month, we regularly look at the market share of individual browsers. This time, we’re doing a year-long recap to find out who did the best and which web browser lost the most.

Although Firefox lost somewhat, it still leapfrogg the leader Internet Explorer at the end of 2009 and found itself in first place with 38.11% (in December 2009 it held 40.8% of the market share).

Safari, perhaps somewhat surprisingly, leapfrogg Opera, gaining 4.62% (it had 3.40% in December 2009)
Opera increas only slightly to 4.57% (4.44% in the same period last year), but it was not enough to maintain fourth place.

On a global scale, the ranking of browsers remain the same as at the end of 2009, but even here the boundaries of the imaginary market pie were shifting.

Internet Explorer still holds the lead with 57.08% (62.69% last year). Even on this scale, the browser from Rmond is the fastest losing browser of the year.
